Well, well...last Monday Jeff proposed, and as soon as we get Our Story upon our website you'll get the full story of all of that (it's sweet). So what's happened since then?....planning, lots of planning. For some unknown reason for the first day I kept thinking...six months...we have six months...that's plenty of time. It wasn't until Jeff thought a little harder than usual and had an epiphany...WAIT...we have FIVE months. Okay, no need to sweat it, we can do this, it's been done before. Now, being a girl, and thinking how girls think, I already had a lot of thoughts about my wedding. You know...sort of what I wanted my dress to look like...what kind of feel I want the wedding to have....I even have had my where in mind for about ten years now. Technically our where isn't quite nailed down yet, but it's looking pretty good as of yet. Going dress shopping tomorrow, so hopefully I can fulfill that hope tomorrow.
One thing we had to line up right away was a photographer. Being a photographer myself, and Jeff being into photography as well, we knew this was going to be a serious priority of ours. So Tuesday morning I pulled out the phone book, pulled up the upstate bridal webpage, and started doing some googling. We went down the list and pulled up each gallery. Jeff being a techie guy saw some websites and were immediately turned off. We called some, and being so close to the date, they were already booked. We were fortunate to get appointments with a few this week. Yesterday we had our first meeting, and we just got back from meeting with another. At this point we definitely have a favorite, but can't make the decision until after we meet with the final one....Sunday.
Colors....as far as that goes, I sort of had an idea right away. I kept thinking that a deep teal would be just lovely...especially in fall...with deep yellow, rust, and even some red flowers. Those two colors would just pop against one another. So we met with the florist Friday. The Flower Pot Florist of Calhoun Falls, SC....Lindsey and Shellie. Got them lined up and ready to go. Of course there are a few details to line up there, but it'll get done. So along with my dress Friday (I'm so excited), Morgan is coming with me to pick out her bridesmaid dress...anyway--I couldn't wait to see the colors, so I popped into David's Bridal Tuesday to pick up a swatch. Well, blah, the color that so looked perfect online is actually navy...that's web viewing. So right now the main color has been slightly altered, but it's still okay. It'll off set the flowers.
Cake...we know what we want...we've talked to Martha Jean about the date. We will have to get back with her sometime to show her what we're thinking, but I have full confidence that'll be perfect, and oh so yummy!
The Place....there's an old church on Highway 25 that I noticed about ten years ago. As soon as I saw it I fell in love. I've mentioned to several people....my best friends (Morgan and Leisa), and my mom, and probably others....that if ever I got married that's the place I'd want. A couple of months ago Jeff and I were talking (before we were engaged) about where we'd want to get married, what type of wedding we'd want, etc....and we happened to be passing by the church, and I pointed it out. Well, he liked it too....so that was our first thought as location. We haven't seen inside yet, but I can't imagine that it's any less beautiful inside than it is out....awesome! Sunday we'll be checking it out in person....can't wait.
Reception....well, the church being out in the middle of nowhere we are thinking tent for reception...which will just be beautiful! My wonderful friends, who are more like family, and Jeff's mom have volunteered to help make food...they rock. So we have to pick out exactly what we'll have. Jeff is insistent on lil smokies...so I'm sure those will be included.
Music....Lee Anne's going to play piano...Kari's going to sing...maybe just maybe Jeff can talk his former band mate into playing guitar. As for the reception we've got some DJs in my...also friends.
So what's left....everyone's reaction. Jeff's mom and dad...Nancy and Dick Milde: Hugs. My mom and dad...Barbara and David Bell...ummm...dad had a few questions (what can you expect from a father of an only child...who's his little girl)...mom expected it, and her excitements is building. Friends...congratulations all around. Both Morgan and Leisa were driving when I called them with the news...I think Morgan ran a red light, and Leisa said immediately don't make me have a wreck. Lee Anne squealed and gave multiple hugs. George thought...uh-oh now Liz is going to wonder what's taking me so long. Rest of the families sent congrats. Haven't told Mitchell and Mandy yet...that's coming.
Tonight we're heading to the Bridal Festival here in Greenville. That should be exciting...get some great ideas, meet some vendors...hopefully, find some deals.
We'll update soon!
Love ya'll---Lisa and Jeff
