A hope

I left Greenville for Calhoun Falls this afternoon. I realize it's a very odd thing that Jeff and I have had the privilege to spend so much time together. Of course we've gotten to know each other a lot faster because of that...hence dating the relatively short time of four months before getting engaged. We're very blessed with our schedules. We get to spend several days at the other's house, and no we don't enjoy all the perks of being in the same house. Anyway, we do get to do a lot of things together....trips to Lowes, grocery store, post office, bank, all those ordinary mundane things....not to mention all the wedding stuff, and of course our 'dates' a few evenings a week. Very rarely are we separated. So as I was making my journey to what will be my house for only a few months more, I thought about those couples that you always hear about...especially in a small town. You know the ones that are 'up in years'....been married what seems like forever. You see one, you see the other. Still walk hand-in-hand. They still give each other those glances that you know contains more than what words could ever say. They read each other's thoughts, know the next word out of the other's mouth. You know those couples. I really have a great hope that Jeff and I will be one of those couples. I know that it takes a lifetime to get to that point, that not all of those couples were always so close, that they've faced hard times and struggles....but I have a sincere hope that one day you'll say..."Yep, those Mildes...He can't do anything without her, and she can't go anywhere without him. Those two are attached at the hip. They've been together what seems like forever." I pray we're on our way to that place.
